Imagine you just turned 18 and are suddenly responsible for everything in your life … and you have no one to call for help. You’ve “graduated” from foster care and are instantly homeless, unemployed, driving without a license, and you just found out you have a baby on the way.
These are the everyday struggles of youth who leave foster care without family support.
FosterAdopt Connect’s Community Youth Connections Project (CCYP) helps youth navigate the struggles of being thrust into adulthood with no resources or hope.
Your attendance and financial gifts at the 2018 Forever Families Gala directly gives hope for a better future to former foster children searching for a life that breaks their cycle of trauma.

2018 Forever Families Gala Emcee
For 30 years, Joel Nichols has told the story of our Kansas City community on area television and radio. Joel will continue sharing the story of youth who have experienced the trauma of abuse and neglect at the 2018 Forever Families Gala.
“Many years ago, when I was at KMBC, I worked and became friends with a woman who was devoting almost all of her non-work time to a boy who had no family to call his own. He was quickly reaching the point of aging out of the program with no home or family for support. She became this boy's foster parent. It was not an easy transition for her, as a new ‘single Mom,’ or for the child who was in that confusing space between boy and young man. But, they made it work and are both so much better for the experience. It is a true honor to support the work of FosterAdopt Connect and, in particular, the Community Connections Youth Project in building a successful future for children and young people in our community.” - Joel Nichols
