Becoming a respite family means you will take in a foster child for up to a few weeks, and frequently, just for a weekend. This gives the child's foster family a chance to regroup and relax.
It also allows you to decide whether it's something you want to do full-time, or if you want to continue to provide respite care.
You may simply enjoy meeting the many different children and their foster families, and prefer the flexibility that respite care offers.
To become a respite home, you will need to complete the preparation course and home study required of all foster parents. Click here for more details.
